45th Reunion - June 1-3, 2012

Weather mapYup, another 5 years in the book. And as many folks observed, we didn't seem to miss a beat. Old friendships were renewed in moments and the stories continued as if we had never been apart. What a class we have!

This year Mother Nature decided to have a little fun with us. Just look at this weather map taken Friday night as the storm heads out of the city. About 16 hours of rain on Friday, lots of drizzle on Saturday and a bunch more on Sunday.

We had a very nice turnout from folks who live outside the GTA and across the world. For the first time in many years we saw Margaret Stewart (a.k.a. Maggie) and Zohir Handy. Returning long distances were Dag Furst, Grant McNabb and Ado Vaher. We came close to seeing first timer Larry Reeder (who lives in the wilds of Mississaugua) but it wasn't to be.

There was a lot of talk about the 50th Reunion that will be coming up in 5 short years. If you do nothing else, put this one in your calendar now and plan on a great few days with your old buds. We expect to make an appearance at the official Engineering Reunion dinner to make the point that we are the greatest class ever. But we'll still do the usual stuff too.

The Traditional Golf Match
No surprise, this year's golf match was rained out. We were all set up to be part of a massive shotgun at Oakridge Golf Club (in spite of the bitching from the West End Whiners). Everything would have been magic ... special prizes for the really bad golfers, handicaps all set, Doug Stephens monogrammed golf bag to be awarded ... <sigh>

So we went to Jack Astor's instead and ate and drank away our sorrows. Click here to see the pics.

The golf this year? We'll try to recreate the magic (well ... just the GTA portion of it) at Bagel's course on July 3rd. We'll award the trophy for the year (no John, you can't keep it for two years).

Quince BistroThe Class Dinner & Reception
The class dinner was held Saturday night at Quince Bistro following the usual outstanding reception at Christine and Wayne Jeffrey's place. Thankfully Mother Nature gave us a break so we could enjoy their back yard and even walk down to Quince.

The Pool Party
This one was washed out too ... but maybe that's for the better. All that embarassing flesh on display? Now Pullam has many pounds of hamburgs and hot dogs, a ton of nacho chips and several gallons of beer to consume over the summer.

Can you imagine what this crew will look like in 2017? The only way to find out is to put those dates in your calendar now. June 2-4, 2017. See you all then.
