It had to happen--just four golfers this year. It seems that Father Time has caught up to many of our regulars. We were without Baldwin, Guppy, Lynch, Segal, and Stephens, all of whom are dealing with significant health problems and are no longer able to play. Rumour has it that Gup has renewed his golf membership though, so he may yet make an appearance one of these days.
Obviously, Bailey is a slow learner and the experience of maintaining the trophy didn't teach him anything. He squeaked out another net 73 and went on to retain the trophy. No one is able to put a ball on a par 3 green so there is no longer any close-to-the-pin.
We had 2 guests for dinner, Sue Fenwick and Doug Fraser. Doug having wrapped up his career as most-honest-golfer in 2018. Apologies for the blurry pics from the event--it must be the camera's fault. Maybe time to retire the Nikon and just go with the phone.
The main dinner topic was planning for the 60th reunion (that's in 2027 for those of you who are numerically challenged). We're thinking of getting Jeffries to do a before-party in the tradition of past years, followed by a visit to a local establishment. He lives in the remote reaches of Burlington, so we might need to negotiate a class rate for an overnight stay. We'd love to hear from everyone still standing with ideas for what to do, where to go, etc. What about those of you made appearances at the 50th .... any ideas to share?
