September 10, 2021 - More Covid golf

This was our second year of pandemic golf, and we opted again for a September date because it was tough to get golf organized in June. But next year we plan to return to the traditional first Friday in June. We had 8 players, with several regular golfers passing on the chance to compete. We're hoping that next year, being our 55th, we'll get a good-sized turnout.

We did away with all the money games and we stopped declaring longest drive or closest to the hole. And that isn't because last year no one could hit a par-3 green! Our class manhood is seriously in question though. Before the competition, a request was made to use the women's tees for everyone, and a number of the players supported it! Pullam relcutantly moved everyone to the reds so that some of the class wimps might reach the greens in regulation.

Baldwin was the overall winner with a net score of 68, so he took home the trophy, being presented here by Adare. Pullam was low gross at 90, thanks to Stephens not playing.

Once again we went to the Duchess of Markham, and that was definitely the high point of the day. A couple of guys didn't make it (Lynch only attends now if there's an early bird seating) but Fraz showed up, even though he didn't play.

And speaking of next year, we decided we'll have the traditional 5-year celebration that we've done every year since our 30th. Rumour has it that Wayne Jeffrey has moved, so he has some work to do to figure out where to hold his garden party! Plan now to join us in Toronto on the weekend of June 3, 4 and 5, 2022 for the big shindig.
