June 7, 2019 - What a gorgeous day!

After a really cold and wet spring, Mother Nature smiled on us and gave us a beautiful day to play golf. The conditions were great, except for the really healthy rough, so there was little excuse for the scores that were posted. Ten of the gang showed up this year which is a slight improvement over last year. But lame excuses like "I forgot" continue to plague this event. Hey, if Doug Stephens can show up just a few scant months after another successful cancer operation, Democe can stumble around with a nearly broken toe, and Bagel can play with his surgically corrected heart valve, why can't everyone show up?

This year's winner was John Adare with a 69 (if you'll pardon the expression), inching out Ted Swain by one stroke. John brought his A-game today and was really pounding them long and straight. He even got his short putts under control after a greenside lesson on how to sink 4-footers.

Low gross went to Gup (again) with a 90, but it was neck-and-neck with Stephens and Lynch, right up to the 18th. Doug brought some take-home trophy replicas so that the winners would have something to keep for posterity. He took close-to-the-pin himself, so he didn't have to cough that one up. Pullam nearly beat him but the judge ruled that Doug's ball was closer. Baldwin took long drive although several guys hit longer but left their balls in the rough. Hey, that's the rule!

We no longer do a detailed accounting of scores and that's a good thing. Parkview rough drove the scores way up with guys complaining about how much time they spent looking for balls that were just off the fairway. After golf we went to Kelsey's which is just up the road, but service there is getting worse so we gotta find a better place for next year.
