June 1, 2018 - It's not getting any better!

The turnout was down this year, but after the high we had last year at the 50th, no one was concerned. A combination of health issues and family priorities knocked us down to 8 participants. Bagel showed up even though his doc won't let him play golf yet, so he drove around offerred golf tips to the guys in his group. The weather was decent and the threat of rain didn't materialize. The only excuses we had were the ultra thick rough and the crappy golf course conditioning. Rumour has it that Parkview may become housing soon, so they probably aren't spending much on maintenance.

This year's winner was Jim Allen who shot a sparkling net 68. Good thing he practiced handicap maintenance for the past few years and worked his handicap up to an all time high before showing his real game. Gup took low gross with an 87—he showed some weakness on the front nine, but he bounced back on the back nine to edge out the dynamic Dave Lynch.

We tried to award the long drive trophy but this year no one could get it on the fairway. There was some debate among the participants, claiming that a ball in the rough should count, or a long ball never found, but your friendly organizer decided that the award was lost, so the gelt was spread around to the other contests. Close to the hole was won by Mr. Madott, being the only one who got his ball on the green in one. Jeez, these contests are getting tougher each year. Fraz roared back to take the most honest golfer award and reclaim his rightful place in posterity.

This year we did away with the detailed accounting of scores. This is partly because we lost a scorecard and partly because the quality of play has reached such an all-time low. Scroll down to see the pictures of the event.
