University of Toronto Industrial Engineering Class of 6T7

June 5, 2015 - Half a round is better than none!

We paid big time for last year's awesome golfing weather because this year it drizzled off and on right from the first tee. The boys finished the 9th hole on Parkview's fabulous Upper Course, planning to go just 14 holes, and then stop at the clubhouse. But Mother Nature had other ideas. The distant rumbles turned into lightning part way down the 10th fairway and everyone headed for the bar.

The turnout was a little thin this year with an assortment of excuses. Operations, parties, sore backs and moving all featured prominently in the email excuses offerred up to explain absences. Of course the smaller turnout just made it that much easier to win the coveted IE6T7 Class Trophy for Excellence in Golf.

Everyone was assigned half the handicap to which they were entitled and the 2015 results were computed. This year a very healthy looking Doug Stephens took both the low gross and the low net. We don't pay out the prize money for gross and net to the same person, so Swain snuck in the back door with second low net and grabbed a share of the prize fund.

As past winner, it was Baldwin's responsibility to add his own medallion for 2014, and to present the trophy to Stephens at the dinner. But Baldwin didn't get the job done and Stephens found someone better to have dinner with, so the presentation didn't happen. Baldwin promised to present the trophy to Doug the following week with the new medallions attached.

The long drive went to Pullam who striped it down the middle of the 5th fairway. The close-to-the-hole was planned for the 12th, so with the rain-shortened contest, there was no prize awarded.

Having one extra set of prize money remaining, the boys awarded Fraz a prize as "Miss Congeniality" thanking him for participating in the annual embarassment.

The return of Dave Lynch resulted in an appeal for future games to have more senior-friendly tee times. Next year we'll try to tee off around noon—maybe we can get early bird dinner rates then?

So here's how we scored:

We had an ugly guy serving us so there are no raunchy pictures to share.
