University of Toronto Industrial Engineering Class of 6T7

June 5, 2009 - Can it really be Bagel?

It's Bagel! After a fairy tale spring of golf, Bagel becomes the 2009 IE6T7 champion winning low net at Glen Cedars Golf Course. In this candid photo he tries to decline the trophy (but not too hard) as Doug Stephens makes a great speech welcoming Les to the winner's circle. Gee Doug, you should run for office!

Les's spring also includes his first ever hole-in-one rumoured to be a 7-iron on the 115 yard 15th hole at Sleepy Hollow and witnessed by the incorruptible Ted Swain (who is now in counselling as a result). Les has signed and mounted the Bridgestone Tour B330-RX ball and it is featured prominently in his trophy case.

As usual the long drive and the low gross were won by Doug Stephens (we forgot to announce the Stephens rule this year, so Pullam is out his share of the award). Stephens blistered his drive on the 7th 35 yards past Baldwin's to claim the long drive prize and he hit the par 5 18th green in two to squeek by Pullam for low gross. Pullam did his part by finishing up with a triple and several expletives that cannot be repeated here.

But we're saving the best for last. This year's close-to-the-pin went to Doug Fraser, our annual most honest engineer. He even followed up that great drive by draining the slippery downhill 20-footer he had left! But even that 57 handicap we gave him (courtesy of the absent Flinch) wasn't enough to get him the low net.

Attendance was a wee bit sparse this year. Haven't you guys heard of adding "First Friday in June " to your Outlook calendars? We heard lots of excuses but "I forgot" just doesn't cut it. Anyone missing this event without a valid reason will be charged 5 extra strokes next year and abused for 9 holes.

And here's the ugly truth:
