University of Toronto Industrial Engineering Class of 6T7

June 2, 2006 - Lynch is back

Swain, you animal! With his heart surgery long forgotten, Dave Lynch (a.k.a. Flinch) took a commanding victory over the lads on this overcast, muggy day. Even the rumbles of distant thunder (or was that Les passing a little gas?) didn't thwart him from destiny. Richmond Hill Golf & Country Club was the location for this year's contest. The tight fairways and demonic pin placements added some challenge, especially for the tournament we were following. It was a great day to pick up stray Pro V1s and Callaways, and anyone with a ball retriever figured to be up a dozen before the day was over.

But I digress ... Lynch shot a sparkling 77 (net 62) proving once and for all that heart technology improvements are even better than getting a new Ping G5. Now all the boys will want an operation.

In other accomplishments, the Gupster pounded a 280-yarder (so he claims) and snuck his ball even closer to the pin than Pullam's gorgeous 4-footer. We added 2 new awards this year: Kingsbooby took the shortest drive prize and Fraz the furthest from the hole. Too bad Fraz had to leave early; the boys unanimously declared that you had to be there to pick up your prize money. That $20 tasted great.

Not to be forgotten, Swain left his mark this year by displaying a new and improved trophy. Just like the Stanley Cup, he added a wooden base to allow us to identify the names of the winners from past years. And not wanting his meager successes to be forgotten, Ted increased the font size on his wins "just a tad". See closeup below.

And finally, we repeat a popular game we started last year called "Where in the world is Janusz Sobieniak?" (correct answer at the bottom). Check out Janusz's shot below and see if you can be a winner. This game may be repeated each year if we receive more photos.

The embarrassing results continue ...
