This was the most embarrassing display of golf yet. 10 golfers;
only 2 broke 100. Using gale force winds as their excuse, the boys of 6T7 were
severely trounced by the Maples of Ballantrae.
Only Stephens and Fenwick managed to keep their images intact as
the 75 kph gusts took their toll on our gallant classmates. Stephens began the
thrashing of his former friends with a low gross of 89 (this is getting a
little tedious, Doug). Next he added close-to-the-hole (10 feet away on a wind
swept 4th green), and then he completed the triple crown by pounding a 300
yarder for the long drive on 14. No one came within 50 yards of the brute.
But Fenwick nabbed the coveted class trophy with a low net of 70,
after negotiating an extra large handicap this year. What were we thinking?
Honourable mentions go to Fraser for most improved golfer (-14
strokes), to Pullam for biggest choke (+13 strokes) and to Bagel for arriving
late 3 years in a row.
Next event on the 6T7 tour is Myrtle Beach 2000 (or maybe
Charleston?) Stay tuned for details of the next chapter of bad golf. |
