What a lame excuse!!! Kingsbrew called up from Montreal a few days before
the match and withdrew his name as a candidate to retain the trophy. Claimed
his knee hurt and he couldn't play ... something about an old football injury.
Weak.
Fenwick and Pullam tied with net 72's and settled the contest on the 18th
green in a chip and putt-off. Too bad the rest of the gang was sitting inside,
guzzling cold ones and didn't enjoy Pullam's amazing style as he grabbed the
trophy and prize money.
Low gross went to Stephens with an 88 (obviously his political life isn't
exacting too heavy a toll). Long drive went to Adare (doesn't seem possible,
but a foot wedge solves those shotmaking challenges). Closest to the pin went
to Pullam with a shot that nearly skipped across the pond (good thing he
finally hit a green or we wouldn't have had a closest to the hole contest this
year). Honourable mention to Gup for being the most erratic golfer of the day
and Bagel for the ugliest.
Make the Year 2000 your turn to win the big bucks. We want the whole class.
No excuses. Mark Friday, June 2nd on your calendar. Easy money.
